This original Chinese Brush Painting “Xi Shang Mei Shao” features a Magpie standing on a blooming prune tree branch. Xi Que (magpie) is literally a happy bird, the prune flower is Mei Hua, and the combination of the two in a design is a symbolic notion of Xi Shang Mei Shao 喜上眉梢 (happy, up, eyebrows, branch tip). A happy bird up on a prune branch sounds like happiness shown by raised eyebrows in Mandarin. This artwork is beautifully presented in a redwood-finish frame with dimensions of 20”x 20.”
